Traditional and secluded. Very peaceful. Super comfy bed, lovely nights sleep after an early start to the day to get there. Hotel is a lovely traditional vibe. We had our evening meal in the blue room (no doubt due to out of season/quieter time) could benefit from more background noise, felt a bit like eating in a library. Nevertheless, the food was good, big portions too! Lovely grounds, although Macdonald could do with investing in maintenance, nice walk down to the lake. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Room was a bit too warm for us but we just turned the radiator down and opened the window a bit - no issues.

Two day trip and certainly worthwhile. Located in an ideal setting, Staff excellent and friendly. Room was very good, including bathroom, in fact restaurant and bar very good also. Plus food did not disappoint also. Plenty of parking close to hotel. We would certainly pay another visit to the hotel.
